Student of the Week
“Student of the Week” is designed to spotlight each student with an opportunity to share special and exciting qualities and interests about themselves. Each week a student will be picked and receive special jobs in honor of being so. The schedule below will be sent home the Monday prior to your child being selected for “Student of the Week.” This will allow him/her plenty of time to organize, brainstorm and draft what he/she would like the class to know. By receiving the sheet one week ahead of time it will prevent the student from having to spend the weekend working on it. The poster is easy to construct and can be completed by the student. It can be as creative and colorful as he/she wishes however; the important part is filling in the information so that the class will learn more about the “real you.” The poster is composed of simple prompts and questions children will be familiar with and generally like to share with their peers.
Student of the Week Schedule:
Monday: Bring your Student of the Week poster completed to share with the class. Your poster will then go on our special board for all to view during the week.
Tuesday: Bring your Estimation Bag, present it to the class and receive guesses for the amount of items in your bag. (This can be any small item such as pencils, erasers, bouncy balls, marbles, pennies, ect.)
Wednesday: Bring in any special item you would like to show and tell the class about. This can be a collectible, a souvenir from a vacation, a medal you have won, a stuffed animal, etc. Please be able to tell us three facts about your item and then receive three questions or comments on it.
Thursday: Bring your favorite picture book to be read by the teacher to the class.
Friday: Special Student is presented with a book made by classmates. After sharing this book with the class the Special Student will announce the accurate number of items in his/her Estimation Bag. At this point these special items can be shared with classmates or returned to home, whichever the student decides.
You will receive a note along with the poster and Estimation Bag when it is your child’s turn to remind you of the week's activities. This will help your child prepare for each day. I am personally excited to hear from each and every student in order to know him/her better!
