Career Visits
No Job Too Big, No Job Too Small...
Our Parents Can Do It All!
As you are probably aware, the students love to have parents visit the classroom. All the way from "Secret Reader" in kindergarten to the many parties, special lunches, and celebrations Wass has to offer, the opportunity to connect home to learning is extremely important. As a member of the Troy Career Committee, I have recognized one more opportunity to incorporate you and who you are into the classroom. To help the children continue to appreciate you and your importance in their learning and their lives, I would like to invite every parent to visit our room to enlighten the students to the many important jobs parents perform. I feel this will not only introduce your occupation or career to them, but it will also broaden their horizons as to what the future may hold for them while at the same time reiterating our social studies curriculum about communities.
You are invited to sign up for a Tuesday afternoon visit to our classroom to explain and discuss what you do, why you do it and what your job entails. Children will recognize from this what it takes to make a community grow and the many opportunities there are for them to explore, as they grow into adults. I feel it is never too early to introduce these ideas for students to become aware of the fact that they too will one day be an adult, with an important job that they will enjoy. Ideally, I would invite you to do this on Tuesday afternoon. Your visit will begin at 3:00 p.m. and may last anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes which will include a short question and answer period. Your presentation may be designed in any manner that you feel will best suit the understanding and interests of second graders. A sign-up sheet will be available for you to participate in our career program and any and all careers are invited. If it is not possible for you to visit at this time, please feel free to email me so that we can work together to make your visit possible.
Our Career Program will begin in late September. I am extremely excited Mr. Skinner to share his career and to visit the class to meet some of the most important people in my life. I hope you all decide to join us in the process of educating the students in the many areas of opportunity that await them as adults.
